BRENHAM POLICE MAKE TWO DWI ARRESTS FRIDAY NIGHT

  

Two people were arrested within minutes of each other Friday night by Brenham police on separate DWI charges.

At approximately 7:31 p.m., Corporal Jimmy Ha stopped a vehicle in the 2400 block of Highway 290 East for failing to maintain a single lane of traffic.  Cpl. Ha made contact with the driver and reported smelling the odor of an alcoholic beverage.  He also found additional signs of intoxication.

After failing a standardized field sobriety test, 22-year-old Anthony Jesus Acevedo of Rosenberg was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated with an Open Container.  He was transported to the Washington County Jail.

Then at approximately 7:35 p.m., Officer Bryan Morong stopped a vehicle in the 2100 block of South Day Street for driving without headlights.  Upon making contact with the driver, Officer Morong could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage and observed a bottle of alcohol.

74-year-old Mark Irwin Pittel of Brenham was taken into custody after failing a standardized field sobriety test.  He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated with an Open Container and transported to the Washington County Jail.
