‘CZHILISPIEL 50’ KICKS OFF FRIDAY IN DOWNTOWN FLATONIA

  

Downtown Flatonia marks 50 years of Czhilispiel starting tonight (Friday).

The celebration of Flatonia’s Czech and German heritage runs through Sunday and has a wide variety of activities on tap, like live music, cook-offs and competitions, vendors, a carnival, and a haunted house.

The festival kicks off this evening with music from Art Hernandez, Angelica & Velvet, Matt Castillo and La Calma.

Tomorrow (Saturday) will have a 5K run and walk in front of Flatonia City Hall, a pie auction, a jalapeño eating contest, Czhilispiel Got Talent, beard judging and the new Mrs. Pageant.  Featured entertainers are Fritz Hodde & The Fabulous Six, Broken Alibi, Triston Marez, Mike Ryan and Easton Corbin.

Sunday’s events include the Czhilispiel Grand Parade, a car and truck show, a children’s Halloween costume contest, tricycle races, and contests for Back Seat Momma Drivin, horseshoes, washers and cornhole.  On stage will be D’Vine Testament, the Blue Denim Band, The Emotions and the Texas Unlimited Band.

Admission at the gate is $10 tonight, $25 tomorrow and free on Sunday.
