Mescalito Coffee is making preparations to open a new location in Dime Box.

According to the Giddings Times, Jared Anderson and Kathleen Matthews will be opening a roastery and a sampling/tasting room at 1013 Bowers Street.

There are two buildings on the property. The smaller building, that used to be a meat market, will serve as the flagship roastery.

Meanwhile, the larger building, which used to be a saloon, will be the sampling/tasting room.

The owners said that they built their location at 100 East Alamo Street in Brenham for those who appreciate life at a slower pace and a good cup of coffee, and they are hoping to bring that to Dime Box.

Anderson and Matthews are using Smithdish Architecture in re-decorating the facilities.

They have also been meeting with local residents and visiting the Dime Box Heritage Museum to learn more about the community.

Their goal is to become a part of the community and to honor the history of the buildings they purchased.
