WALMART PLANNING $5.1 MILLION IN UPGRADES TO BRENHAM SUPERCENTER

  

Walmart is planning major upgrades at its location in Brenham.

According to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the Brenham Supercenter is set to undergo $5,133,228 in renovations and alterations.  The filing indicates the addition of a roughly 5,000-square-foot expansion to the left of the building, as well as performing remodeling and repairs, cleaning, painting and updating signage.

Walmart Southwest Business Unit Communications Director Kim Cooper said each of Walmart’s store remodels include facets of its “Store of the Future” plan, which the company said is part of an effort to modernize the in-store and digital shopping experience.  Cooper said the remodels can include enhancements like expansion of grocery pickup and delivery, an updated pharmacy, a new grab and go section, an expanded deli and produce section, new community-focused food and merchandise offerings, and a renovated apparel section. 

Work is scheduled to begin in January 2027, with estimated completion in June 2027.  Cooper said the store will not be closed, and construction will happen after hours.

Walmart is planning remodels at more than 650 Supercenters and Neighborhood Markets across the country this year, including over 70 in Texas.
