PNG ENDS CUBS SEASON 38-28 AT NRG STADIUM

The season came to an end for the Brenham Cub Football Team as they fell to Port Neches Groves 38-28 at NRG Stadium in Houston.

The Cubs got things started on a good note as they marched down the field and scored on a two yard run by Ricky Brown.  Grant Mayfield added the extra point to make it 7-0 with 10:50 left in the first quarter.

The Indians responded with a long drive of their own. Shea Adams scored on a 1 yard run, and the game was tied 7-7 at the 5:52 mark.

PNG then took advantage of some turnovers by Brenham to score on a pair of touchdown runs by Isaiah Nguyen to take a 21-7 lead the end of the first quarter.

Adams would score the only touchdown of the second quarter on a 25 yard run at 2:39.  The Indians would lead 28-7 at halftime.

Nguyen scored his third touchdown of the game at 8:36 in the third quarter on a 3 yard touchdown run.  PNG took a 35-7 lead.

The Cubs started to mount a comeback as Rylan Wooten found Reed Robinson on a 31 yard touchdown pass.

Wooten also ran one in himself to cut the lead to 35-21 with 38 seconds left in the third quarter.

PNG would scored one more time on a 21 yard field goal at 7:47 in the fourth quarter to make it 38-21.

Brenham scored one more time on a four yard touchdown pass from Wooten to Ian Stelter at 3:24 left to cut the lead to 38-28, which would be the final.

The Cubs finish the season with an 8-5 record. It was also the final game for 21 Seniors.
