WCHLA GINGERBREAD AUCTION RAISES NEARLY $13,000
Organizers for the Washington County Healthy Living Association’s (WCHLA) first-ever gingerbread house auction held on Thursday are calling the event a great success.
According to WCHLA Executive Director Willy Dilworth, the fundraiser brought in just under $13,000 in proceeds to support activities and programs at the Margaret E. Blizzard Senior Activity Center.
The silent and live auction event featured 26 decorated gingerbread houses up for bid. Dilworth said one house sold for $2,700, while several went for over $1,000.
In addition to the gingerbread houses, guests were treated to hors d’oeuvres, snacks, hot chocolate, wassail and adult beverages.
Dilworth gave thanks to the gingerbread house builders and bidders and to all of the community for their support, saying, “For the first time this was awesome.”
