CRANE KNOCKS OUT POWER TO VINTAGE FARMS RESIDENTS
Residents in the Vintage Farms subdivision in Brenham lost power early Wednesday afternoon after a crane hit a power line.
According to a statement from Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative Public Affairs Manager Will Holford, the outage occurred around 12:30 p.m. and affected 1,100 members.
City of Brenham Communications and Public Relations Manager Melinda Gordon said the incident happened at Premier Metal Buyers (PMB) while moving a crane. Gordon said PMB was using a magnet instrument to move metal around, but the instrument has a very tall boom, which hit the power line.
Bluebonnet crews restored power to 440 members shortly before 1:45 p.m. by routing power through undamaged lines. The crane was removed, and crews repaired the damaged power line, restoring power to the remaining 660 members at 2:45 p.m.
The crane operator was reported to be uninjured after being checked out by EMS. Brenham fire officials responded, but there was no fire at the scene.
PMB temporarily closed its office and scrapyard on Wednesday due to the power outage. It has resumed normal operations.
