MASTRONARDI CHOSEN LCLESO PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR

Lee County Law Enforcement
Support Organization Award

The Lee County Law Enforcement Support Organization held their first annual Law Enforcement Gala this past Saturday at the Silos on 77 in Giddings.

The evening was highlighted by the presentation of the Law Enforcement Professional of the Year Award.

The award went to Lee County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division Captain Jordan Mastronardi.

On May 10, 2022, Captain Mastronardi, who was a lieutenant at the time, was shot twice in the collarbone by sexual assault suspect Raul Vega Perez while attempting to serve a warrant on him.

The shots perforated his esophagus, struck a lung, and broke a rib.

Mastronardi was airlifted to an Austin hospital, where he underwent a four-hour surgery. Perez was killed during the exchange of gunfire with other deputies at the scene.

A veteran of over 10 years in law enforcement, Mastronardi was able to make full recovery and later return to work just five weeks later.

In 2022, Mastronardi worked 35 crimes against children with a 94% clearance rate, and under his leadership the Criminal Investigations Division worked 176 criminal cases with an 83% clearance rate.

The Law Enforcement Gala also featured a meal that was catered by Jake’s BBQ, a live auction, and music from the Texas Unlimited Band.

The Lee County Law Enforcement Support Organization was founded on December 14, 2021. Their mission is to provide equipment, training, and other support for local law enforcement officers.
