GRIMES COUNTY ROAD RAGE SUSPECT GETS PRISON TERM
A Grimes County road rage suspect is going to be spending the next 18 years in prison.
52-year-old Blake Jon Arrington, who was charged with Aggravated Assault, received the sentence from Judge Suzanne Brooks on Monday in Grimes County District Court.
He was also sentenced to two years in a state jail facility for Endangering a Child. The two sentences will run concurrently.
The charges stem from a July 16, 2021 incident in which Arrington is accused of repeatedly trying to run a vehicle off the road that had a mother and her three children inside of it.
The family was returning home on FM 39 south of Iola when they encountered Arrington. The father, who was following his family in a separate vehicle, had to finally ram Arrington’s truck in order to finally get him to stop.
During the sentencing hearing, Judge Brooks heard testimony from the father, a therapist who is treating the children, and from victims in a newly discovered road rage incident that also involved Arrington that occurred in April 2021.
The case went to trial, and Arrington was found guilty by a Grimes County Jury on October 27, 2022.
After the punishment was handed down, Assistant District Attorney Meagan Callaham released a statement saying, “I hope the prison sentence in the case sends a clear message that road rage of this nature committed in Grimes County will be met with harsh consequences.”
