ONE ARRESTED AFTER SHOOTING INCIDENT NEAR BEDIAS

One Bedias man was arrested, and another was hospitalized following a shooting incident this past Monday.

Deputies from the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched around 3:15pm to the 300 block of County Road 117 just north of Bedias. 

According to a report in the Navasota Examiner, the victim, 53-year-old David Mayo knocked on a woman’s door seeking help.

The woman called 9-1-1, and told authorities that Mayo said he had been shot.

Deputies arrived and found Mayo with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. He was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bryan, where he was listed in stable condition.

Mayo said his roommate, 45-year-old Daniel Hunter was the person who shot him.

Deputies obtained a search warrant for the residence that Mayo and Hunter lived, and while there found the weapon that is believed to have been used in the shooting.

Hunter was arrested and charged with a second-degree felony for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Lieutenant John Jones told the Examiner that the shooting was an isolated incident and the public was never in any danger.

The investigation into the case is ongoing.
