In what has become the annual big fundraiser for the Brenham ISD Education Foundation, the 18th Annual Arts and Appetizers event took place Thursday evening at the Ant Street Inn Ballroom.  The live auction had 34 items in it and brought in over $41,000.  The highest bid of the evening was for a 3 night fishing trip for $2000.  Brannon Industrial Group won the bid, then donated the trip back in to have other people bid on it.  It then went for an additional $1700 to the Crain Group.  The highest student done artwork brought in $2800 and was a collaborative artwork by 4th grade students at Alton Elementary School entitled “Our Hometown Rocks” The picture depicts many of the iconic buildings that make Brenham unique.

Although the final numbers for the fundraising event won’t be in until sometime Friday, preliminary results from the live auction show it brought in more than last year.  This year’s live auction brought in over $41,000 compared to last year’s $40,350.  Students will receive ½ of the proceeds from their artwork, with the other ½ going to the Brenham ISD Education Foundation.  The Foundation has given out over $500,000 in mini-grants since it was created in 2004.  It gave out over $115,000 just last year.
