PANTHERS BEAT A&M CONSOLIDATED JV AT BURTON TOURNAMENT

The Burton Panthers Baseball Team wrapped up the Burton Tournament with an 8-3 win over the A&M Consolidated Junior Varsity on Saturday.

The Tigers took an early 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning.

In the bottom of the first, Chet Fritsch hit a solo homer to center field to make it a 2-1 game. Later in the frame, Colby Beck, Carson Lauter, and Bryson Biggs drew three straight walks to load the bases. Brady Grifin singled to score Beck, and Ryder Biggs followed with a single of his own to score Lauter and Burton was up 3-2.

The A&M Consolidated JV tied it with a run in the top of the second.

It would stay that way until the bottom of the fourth when the Panthers put five more runs on the scoreboard. Ryder Biggs led off with an infield hit. He was then balked to second base, and stole third base. Kaiden Kalkhake walked. Vicente Veliz followed with a squeeze bunt that brought home Biggs. Pierson Spies walked to load the bases. Fritsch then hit a double to score Kalkhake and Veliz to put Burton up 6-3. The Panthers tacked on two more runs as Spies and Fritsch both came around to score to increase the lead to 8-3.
