COMMISSIONERS TO DISCUSS ROAD NAME CHANGE

The Washington County Commissioners will discuss a road name change during their next meeting on Tuesday morning.

Property owners have made a formal request to the commissioners to change the name of Machemehl Road to Old Bryan Road.

The residents say they are making the request in order to preserve county history and to correct a previous error.

There will be a public hearing and then the commissioners will vote on whether or not to make the change.

Another public hearing is being held to discuss reducing the speed limit on Rocky Creek Manor in Precinct three.

According to County Engineer Wesley Stolz, the Engineering and Development Department is making a recommendation of lowering the speed limit from 30 mph to 25 mph.

After the hearing, the commissioners will vote on whether or not to approve the request.

Other agenda items include proclamations declaring April 2023 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Washington County, as well as Safe Digging Month in Washington County.  They will also be voting on permits and road closures for the Bluebonnet Festival in Chappell Hill on April 15-16.

The Washington County Commissioners Court meets in their Chambers on Tuesday at 9am at the Washington County Courthouse.
