BURTON COTTON GIN FESTIVAL SET FOR SATURDAY
Burton will commemorate the oldest operating cotton gin in America this weekend at the 34th Annual Burton Cotton Gin Festival.
Saturday’s event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and begins with a parade through downtown Burton, followed by many more activities on the grounds of the Texas Cotton Gin Museum.
Guests will be able to shop in the arts and crafts vendor area, enjoy tasty treats in the food court, watch folk-life demonstrations and a tractor pull, see displays of antique tractors and classic cars, and take part in the bubblegum blowing, pie eating and cotton seed pulling contests.
There will also be tours of the Burton Farmers Gin from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and at 3 p.m. the gin will come to life and gin a bale of cotton.
Live music will be performed from 11 a.m. to noon by Ella B and Robert Zientek, followed by The Pettit Brothers from noon to 2:30 p.m., Sean Orr & Texas Gold from 2:30 to 4 p.m., and the Czechaholics from 4 to 6 p.m. A new activity this year will be two step dance lessons from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. with Hill Country Two Step.
Admission is free and open to all ages.
