A LOOK AT CAMPAIGN FINANCE REPORTS FOR MAY 6 ELECTIONS

Thursday was the 30-day prior-to-election deadline for candidates in the May 6th elections to submit campaign finance reports.

The reporting period goes from the start of a candidate’s campaign to April 6th.

Looking at the Brenham mayor’s race, candidate Atwood Kenjura has received $11,875 in political contributions, spent $6,464 in expenses and taken out $3,265 in loans.  Kenjura’s report shows 38 individual contributions ranging from $25 to $1,000.

The campaign of fellow candidate Keith Hofmann has received $2,610 in total contributions—including $1,300 in monetary and $1,310 in non-monetary, or in-kind, contributions—and spent $2,097.  Hofmann received three individual monetary contributions of $100, $200 and $1,000, as well as three in-kind contributions estimated at $360, $400 and $550.

Four of the eight Brenham School Board candidates filed traditional reports, while the other four opted for a modified reporting schedule upon appointing their campaign treasurer.  That means they do not have to file pre-election or runoff reports if they do not intend to accept over $1,010 in contributions or spend more than that amount in expenses.

Archer Archer’s report lists $3,845 in contributions and $2,282 in expenditures.  Nine individual contributions were received, from $100 to $1,500.

Bonnie Brinkmeyer’s campaign has received contributions of $2,620 and spent $2,287.  She too has received nine contributions, from $25 to $920.

Kyle Hafner has received $2,145 in contributions and made $1,221 in campaign expenditures.  His campaign has 14 individual contributions, from $30 to $500.

David Jantzi’s contributions total $3,200, while his expenses amount to $1,504.  The nine individual contributions range from $200 to $500.

The lone Burton City Council candidate not to choose modified reporting was mayoral candidate Karen Buck.  Buck has $1,000 from one individual contribution, while she has spent $1,000 in personal funds and $832 via credit card.

All four Burton School Board candidates declared modified reporting.

The campaign finance reports can be obtained from each respective entity holding an election.  KWHI is awaiting finance reports from the Blinn College Board of Trustees race.
