LADY PANTHERS SHUTOUT IOLA 12-0 TO CLOSE OUT DISTRICT PLAY

The Burton Lady Panther Softball Team finished their perfect 10-0 district run with a 12-0 win over the Iola Lady Bulldogs on Friday night.

The Lady Panthers got it started in the bottom of the first inning. Amaya Williams was hit by a pitch. Bailey Glaesmann walked. Williams stole third and then scored on a wild pitch for the early 1-0 Burton lead.

In the bottom of the second inning, Allie Biggs walked and Katy Whitfield singles. Biggs scored on a passed ball. Kalli Pohl singled. Jennifer Lopez followed with a double that brought Whitfield home. Reagan Roemer hit a sacrifice fly that scored Pohl. Paige Fritsch hit a triple that scored Lopez, and then she would score on a steal of home. Glaesmann followed with a triple, Kelsie Hohlt came in to run, and Aerynn Huntsman had an RBI single to put the Lady Panthers up 7-1.

It would stay that way until the bottom of the fourth inning. Fritsch walked, and then scored on an RBI double by Williams. Glaesmann doubled in Williams to make it 9-0. Hohlt ran for Glaesmann again. Huntsman walked. Biggs doubled home Hohlt. Huntsman followed with a steal of home. Katy Whitfield was hit by a pitch, stole second, stole third, and then scored on an RBI groundout by Pohl. The runs put the Lady Panthers up 12-0.

Bailey Glaesmann had another dominant performance. She went five scoreless inning, allowing only one hit, and striking out eight to get the win.

Burton won the district title. Now they await to see who their first playoff opponents will be.
