DPS: 6-YEAR-OLD FLOWN TO HOSPITAL AFTER BEING ACCIDENTALLY STRUCK BY VEHICLE

A 6-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital after he was accidentally hit by a vehicle outside a home northeast of Brenham.

The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday on Reagan Beth Lane, off of FM 50.

According to DPS Sergeant Justin Ruiz, a family member was backing out of their driveway in a Ford SUV.  Several children were in the driveway around the SUV, so the driver yelled out to alert them before pulling out, but did not see the boy in front of the vehicle.  The SUV struck the child, and his head hit the concrete.

Sgt. Ruiz said the collision was not at high speed.

The child was flown to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.  At last check, he was in stable condition.
