CUBETTE SEASON ENDS ON A 10-7 LOSS TO PFLUGERVILLE IN GAME 3

A hard fought series with several twists and turns came to an end on Monday night with the Brenham Cubettes falling to the Pflugerville Lady Panthers 10-7 in game three.

The game resumed from Friday night's rain out with Pflugerville leading 3-1 in the top of the fifth. Della Jasinski entered the game for Brenham, and gave up a run to increase the Lady Panther lead to 4-1.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Cubette offense had a big inning. Stella Landry led it off with a walk. Liliana Gonzales courtesy ran for her. McKenzie Tiemann laid down what was supposed to be a sacrifice bunt, but on a throwing error, she reached base safely as well. Avery Maurer walked to load the bases for Halle Scheel. Scheel hit a two run single that scored Gonzales and Tiemann. Kaylyn Rodriguez came up with a suicide squeeze to score Maurer with the tying run. Sarah Mabie brought home Scheel on an RBI ground out, and the Cubettes were in the lead 5-4.

It would stay that way until the top of the seventh. The Lady Panthers came up with six runs to take a 10-5 lead. The runs scored on only one hit, four walks, a hit batter, and an error.

In the bottom of the seventh, Brenham had one more chance. Scheel lead it off with an infield single. Kaylyn Rodriguez slugged an RBI triple. Mabie then brought Rodriguez home on a sacrifice fly to cut the lead to 10-7. That was close as the Cubettes would come.

Brenham finishes the season 27-14. Pflugerville moves on to face Lake Creek in the Region Quarterfinals later this week.
