UIL STATE TRACK MEET TO OPEN TOMORROW (THURSDAY)

The UIL State Track Meet is scheduled to open tomorrow (Thursday) in Austin with the 3A and 4A events.  In the 3A Meet, Ty’Vonne Whitehead of Columbus will be competing in the Boys 100 Meter Dash.

The Hempstead Girls 4x200 Meter Relay Team will be competing as well.  The team consists of Zamauria Fisher, JaNovia Kinsey, Danica Williams, and She’Quera Wolfe-George.

In the 4A Meet, Austen Diggs of La Grange will be taking part in the Boys 100 Meter Dash and the Boys 200 Meter Dash.  He is also taking part in the Boys 4x100 Meter Relay Team along with teammates C.J. Davis, Clayton Knapik, and Jorden Williams.

Sealy’s Blake Pleasant is going to take part in the Pole Vault.

Bellville’s Hunter Kunkel will be running in the 300 Meter Hurdles.

On the girls’ side, Carlie Weiser of Giddings is in the Shot Put and the Discus, and trying to win back-to-back state championships in both events.

Ja Asia Mathis of Caldwell is competing in the Long Jump.

For Sealy, Taniah Coleman will participate in the Long Jump and the Triple Jump, Ryanne Meyers is taking part in the High Jump, and Emma Statham will be in the Pole Vault. The 2A and 5A State Meets are being held on Friday.  The 1A and 6A Meets will wrap up the events on Saturday.
