A Dallas man was arrested by Bellville Police on Monday night after he was caught ignoring a criminal trespass warning in order to retrieve a firearm.

Earlier in the day, 26-year-old Carlo DeWayne Shelly was issued a criminal trespass warning for the Park Place Apartments at 20 South Mechanic Street in Bellville. He was also removed from the property by request.

Bellville Police say Shelly returned to the apartment complex later that evening to retrieve a firearm that he had left behind.

One of their officers, who was patrolling in the area, reportedly observed Shelly fire seven shots into the air.

The officer confronted Shelly at gunpoint and was able to take him into custody without further incident.

Shelly was then taken to the Austin County Jail, where he was booked in on a Third-Degree Felony charge for Deadly Conduct/Discharge of a Firearm, and a Class B Misdemeanor for Criminal Trespassing.
