Hundreds of students in Brenham and Burton are set to close the book on their high school careers.

The two high schools will hold graduation ceremonies tonight (Friday) to recognize the Class of 2023.  Brenham’s graduation will be held at Cub Stadium, while Burton’s will take place at the Oliver Whitener/Roy Winkler Pavilion.  Both ceremonies will begin at 8 p.m.

Brenham High School’s graduating class has 377 students, including 137 with honors.  Leading the class are valedictorian Grant Mayfield, who earned a grade point average of 4.8722, and salutatorian Erin Keller, with a GPA of 4.7698.

Burton High School has 33 students set to walk the stage, with 15 honor graduates.  The top seniors are valedictorian Chet Fritsch, who attained a GPA of 4.1529, and salutatorian Vicente Veliz Jr., whose GPA was 4.0637.

KWHI will have live broadcasts of both ceremonies, with Brenham’s on AM 1280, FM 101.7, and the KWHI Facebook page.  Burton’s graduation will be broadcast via the alternate stream on and the KWHI phone app.
