ONE DEAD AFTER EXPLOSION AT ROBERTSON CO. POWER PLANT

  

A contractor was killed after an explosion this (Wednesday) morning at a power plant north of Franklin.

The incident occurred around 8 a.m. at the Oak Grove Power Plant.

Robertson County Emergency Management said initial reports were of an explosion with multiple injuries.  Once crews arrived, they found that a boiler had exploded.

According to emergency management officials, one person was seriously hurt and later died from their injuries. 

No other injuries were reported.  Per emergency management, the situation is under control and there is no threat to the public.

The plant is operated by Luminant, a subsidiary of Vistra Corporation.  The company said the incident happened during the commissioning of a new auxiliary boiler, and that the plant continues to operate and generate electricity.
