WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO CONSIDER FALL 2023 HOT FUND REQUESTS

Washington County Commissioners will act Tuesday on distributing hotel occupancy tax (HOT) grant funds to local tourism organizations for the fall.

A total of $51,200 is being requested by six entities for the fall 2023 cycle, those being the Brenham Heritage Museum, Chappell Hill Chamber of Commerce, Chappell Hill Historical Society, Texas Arts and Music Festival, Unity Theatre and Washington-on-the-Brazos.  The funds support the organizations in holding seasonal events or otherwise conducting operations.

In December, the court approved $27,100 in HOT fund requests from four groups to go toward the spring 2023 cycle.

In other action on Tuesday, commissioners will consider an order to abandon/vacate a portion of Brazos River Lane and convey the property to the adjoining land owner, Chappell Hill Sausage Company.  If the item is approved, the section of road in question, which is contained on land owned by the company, would no longer be maintained by the county.

The court will also vote on a recommendation from the county engineer to award a contract for aviation fuel supply.

Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse.
