NEW TOTAL SALES RECORD FOR WASHINGTON CO. FAIR JUNIOR LIVESTOCK AUCTION

  

The Washington County Fair broke numerous records, including the total sales mark, at Friday’s Junior Livestock Auction.

The unofficial tally for the 260 lots in the sale was $1,248,700, breaking the record set last year when the auction surpassed $1 million for the first time. 

Eight records fell altogether, including four Grand Champions and four Reserve Champions.  The Grand and Reserve Champions sold for a combined $204,750, including $120,000 for the Grand Champions and $84,750 for the Reserve Champions.

Fair activities conclude today (Saturday) with the livestock judging contest at 8 a.m., little wrangler hay hauling at 9 a.m. and youth country creations auction at 10 a.m.  Livestock judging contest awards will be presented at 1 p.m.  Also happening today are the commercial steer sale at 1 p.m. and the colt and commercial heifer sale at 2 p.m.

The carnival opens at 1 p.m., and other attractions will include the youth hay hauling and greased pig contest at 6 p.m., along with the rodeo with calf scramble and wild steer saddling at 7:30 p.m.

Tonight’s musical entertainment will be William Beckmann at 9 p.m. and Gary Levox, the former frontman for Rascal Flatts, at 11 p.m.
