JOINT MEETING MONDAY FOR BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL, WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS, BRENHAM SCHOOL BOARD

The Brenham City Council, Washington County Commissioners and Brenham School Board will all join for a special meeting on Monday.

Representatives from Brenham ISD, the Brenham
City Council, Washington County Commissioners
and community members gather for a joint meeting
on April 26th at the Washington County Expo Event
Center.

The first business will be an executive session to discuss the deployment, or specific occasions for implementation, of Washington County Sheriff’s Office personnel and Brenham Police Department School Resource Officers in Brenham ISD schools.

After the executive session, the three bodies will act on a resolution formally requesting that the State of Texas provide adequate funding to Brenham ISD for the mandated requirements of House Bill 3, the sweeping security bill passed in the 88th Legislature that requires school districts to place at least one armed officer or employee on each campus.

Schools across the state have struggled to comply with the new armed officer mandate, with problems stemming from a lack of available police personnel nationwide and not receiving a substantial amount of new funding.

The meeting will be held Monday at noon in the community room at Citizens State Bank in Brenham, 2007 South Day Street.
