TWO CALLS FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT. BETWEEN LATE FRIDAY, EARLY SATURDAY

The Brenham Fire Department responded to two calls between Friday evening and early this (Saturday) morning.

At 6:30 p.m. Friday, the department was dispatched to the 200 block of South Drumm Street for a report of smoke in the area.  Units arrived to find a homeowner burning small sticks and leaves in a fire pit in the backyard, causing a large amount of smoke.  The homeowner extinguished the fire, and all units returned to service.

Just before 2 a.m. today, firefighters were called out to H-E-B, 2508 South Day Street, for an alarm sounding.  They arrived to find nothing showing from the exterior of the building, but later learned that the water pressure in the sprinkler system was too low, causing the alarm to sound.  The department advised an employee to have an alarm company come out and check the system.
