SEVERAL PEOPLE WOUNDED AFTER SHOOTING IN NAVASOTA PARKING LOT

  

Three people went to the hospital Sunday night in Navasota after police say a large gathering resulted in shots fired in a parking lot.

The Navasota Police Department says officers had stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of West Washington Avenue, when they heard several gunshots coming from a convenience store parking lot in the 500 block of the same street. 

Police say they found the parking lot full of vehicles and close to 100 people.  Many began to flee on foot and in vehicles when they saw police arriving. 

The department requested assistance from several surrounding agencies like the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office, Todd Mission Police Department, Grimes County District Attorney’s Office, Grimes County Precinct 1 Constable, DPS, College Station Police Department and Texas A&M Police Department.

Three people drove themselves to the Navasota hospital for minor injuries and were released. 

According to police, everyone interviewed at the scene stated that they attended a private event called “hood day” prior to the shooting.  Investigators recovered multiple spent shell casings and seized five firearms. 

No arrests have been made.
