HOUSTON MAN WITH HUMAN SMUGGLING WARRANT ARRESTED

A Houston man was arrested early Sunday morning in Fayette County after a traffic stop.

According to a report by Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek, Deputy Cody Williams made a traffic stop on I-10 near the Engle area for a traffic violation.

Williams made contact with the driver 18-year-old Joshua Drab.

After detecting the odor of marijuana, Deputy Williams had Drab and his passengers exit the vehicle.

Drab’s information was run through the Fayette County Dispatch, and it turned out that he had a warrant for Human Smuggling from Kinney County, which is down along the Texas-Mexico border.

When Williams went to place Drab into handcuffs, he took off running across both lanes of I-10.  Williams finally caught up with him on the other side near the frontage road.

Drab was arrested for the warrant and an additional charge of Evading Arrest or Detention, and taken to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center in La Grange.

Meanwhile, the other occupants of the vehicle were released.
