HOMECOMING PARADES WEDNESDAY IN BRENHAM, BURTON

Brenham and Burton High Schools will continue homecoming activities tonight (Wednesday) with their annual homecoming parades.

Downtown Brenham and Burton will be packed for the festivities, which begin at 5:30 p.m. for Burton and 6 p.m. for Brenham.

Floats in the Brenham parade can begin lining up at 5 p.m.  The parade will start along Main Street before taking Austin Street to turn down Alamo Street.

The theme for the parade is “Cubs Through the Decades”, so floats will be decorated to represent the decade of their choice or elements from a specific decade.

Starting at 5 p.m., roads will be blocked along Main Street, from Market to Chappell Hill Street and Clinton Street; Market Street between Main and Commerce Street, and Ross Street between Main and Alamo Street.  Roads will reopen around 8 p.m.

KWHI will broadcast the parade live beginning at 5:45 p.m. on AM 1280, FM 101.7 and kwhi.com.  There will also be a livestream on the KWHI Facebook page.

Burton’s parade will start along Main Street before turning left on Burton Street and Brazos Street, then going onto Washington Street.  After that, the parade will turn onto Colorado Street before looping around on FM 390.

Parade participants should arrive no later than 4:45 p.m.

The two schools will crown homecoming royalty on Friday.  Brenham will do so during its football game Friday night at Cub Stadium, kicking off at 7:30 p.m.  The queen will be crowned at halftime, while the king will be crowned after the game.  Burton will crown the king and queen at 7 p.m. in a ceremony at the high school gym.
