SIX CHARGED AFTER BREAK-IN AT WASHINGTON CO. CHURCH

  

Six people were arrested by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday night after a local church was broken into.

According to Patrol Lieutenant David Blakey, the sheriff’s office responded around 10:45 p.m. to a possible burglary in progress at the Sandy Creek Baptist Church.  A witness reported seeing several individuals both taking and damaging church property before leaving the scene in a black vehicle.  The witness followed the suspects, documenting the license plate number and providing the vehicle description to 911.

Minutes later, Sergeant Corey Himebaugh located the vehicle in question on Old Mill Creek Road.  Deputy Adam Zavala, who was travelling to assist Sergeant Himebaugh, observed six individuals walking on Old Mill Creek Road toward Highway 290. 

Deputy Zavala detained the six subjects and was assisted in identifying them by Brenham Police Sergeant Sierra Randle and Officer Grayson Marburger, along with Blinn Police Officer Chad Elkins.  The six admitted to being in the vehicle and at the scene of the suspected burglary. 

Arrested were 18-year-old Jose Luis Campos III of Eagle Pass, 19-year-old Katherine Astrid Davis of Prosper, 18-year-old Reese Alexander McClain of Cypress, 17-year-old Faith Teressa Pore of Columbus, 19-year-old Willem Jacob Van Der Maal of New Braunfels, and 18-year-old Chloe Nicole Wycoff of Columbus. 

All six were charged with Criminal Trespass and Criminal Mischief.  Additionally, Campos, Pore, Van Der Maal and Wycoff were cited for Minor in Possession of Tobacco. 

Update 11/20: The Washington County Attorney's Office has confirmed that the charges against Davis, Campos, McClain and Van Der Maal have been dropped from prosecution.
