GRIMES CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE WARNING ABOUT JURY DUTY SCAM
The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office is alerting the public about a phone scam.
The sheriff’s office issued a notice today (Thursday) saying it has received several calls from people reporting they were contacted by individuals claiming to be employees of the sheriff’s office.
The scammers tell the victim that a warrant has been issued for failure to report for jury duty and demand money be sent to them for the warrant.
A scammer also left a message asking the recipient to call them back in regards to a legal matter.
The sheriff’s office says it will never ask for money over the phone and that anyone who receives a call like this should report it to the sheriff’s office by contacting 936-873-2151.
