A fourth-quarter offensive lull was the difference between an upset win and a close loss for the 16th-ranked Blinn College women's basketball team.

Just minutes away from a big home victory over fifth-ranked Collin College, the Buccaneer offense went cold in the fourth period and the Cougars rallied for a 60-52 victory Wednesday at the Kruse Center in Brenham, Texas.

"We competed on the defensive end for as long as we could, but Collin is a very good team; they made shots in the fourth and we did not," Blinn head coach Jeff Jenkins said. "We will have to get better on the offensive end before we have a chance to beat the best teams in the nation."

After leading at the end of the first three periods, the Buccaneers (4-1) were outscored 19-7 in the fourth quarter as Collin erased a 45-41 deficit.

"Scoring seven points in the fourth quarter is tough to overcome," Jenkins added.

Blinn led 15-14 after the first frame and 31-25 at the half.

Leading the way offensively for the Bucs was freshman guard Elizabeth Walton, who tallied 13 points. Freshman guard Wynter Jones finished with eight points and freshman guards Nala Richardson and Chelsy Singleton added seven apiece.

Blinn gets back to work when it participates in the Paris Junior College Classic in Paris, Texas. The Bucs face Eastern Oklahoma State University at 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, and Seminole State College at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18.
