BLINN VOLLEYBALL SEASON ENDS AT NATIONALS

The Blinn College volleyball season came to an end with a hard-fought loss to Casper College in the consolation round of the NJCAA Division I Volleyball Championship tournament earlier today (Thursday) in Hutchinson, Kansas.

Elizabeth Tyner (#11), Kaylen Kruse (#1),
and Brooke Pattschull (#16)

Casper earned a 25-19, 25-18, 18-25, 25-19 victory over the Buccaneers in the opening round of consolation play at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.

"It was a tough way to lose," Blinn head coach Terry Gamble said. "Regardless of today's result, it was an incredible season for our team."

The Bucs posted a 34-7 overall mark this fall and are now a sensational 192-43 during Gamble's six seasons as head coach.

Blinn was making its fourth consecutive appearance at the national tournament, but was unable to advance following setbacks to Weatherford College in Thursday's opener and Friday's tilt against the Thunderbirds.

Friday saw freshman right-side hitter Kellen Dorotik lead the Bucs offensively against Casper with a team-best 13 kills. She added a pair of digs and a solo block on defense. Sophomore middle blocker Brooke Pattschull finished with eight kills to go with a pair of solo blocks and one block assists. Freshman setters Chloe Howard and Elizabeth Tyner each posted 17 set assists. At the service line, freshman libero Cierra Pesak had three service aces, while sophomore middle blocker and sophomore hitter/libero Kaylen Kruse finished with two apiece.

Pesak and Kruse anchored the Blinn defense with 13 and 10 digs, respectively.
