CITY OF BRENHAM ISSUES $44.2 MILLION IN PERMITS IN 2023

Those numbers are down from the previous year, as in 2022 the city issued 432 permits for $67,981,152.
Last year’s total includes 114 new homes permitted for $15,954,459, falling below the 181 new home permits for $31,659,236 in 2022. Residential renovations and additions exceeded 2022, combining for 164 permits on $6,732,525 in 2023 compared to 151 permits on $6,082,174.

Multi-family residential permits saw a big jump; while there were none in 2022, 2023 had five new multi-family permits for $990,000 and a total of seven multi-family renovations and additions for $803,500.
Nine new commercial building permits were issued throughout 2023 for $9,449,317, below the 13 permits on $12,591,169 in the year before. There were more commercial renovations and additions last year than in 2022, tallying 78 in comparison to 65. However, the dollar amount associated with the permits was higher in the year prior, as 2023 reported $10,057,272, while 2022 had $16,726,852.
For the month of December, the city issued 21 permits for $718,594. December 2022 had 18 permits worth $2,617,056.
