SIX CALLS BETWEEN TUESDAY, EARLY WEDNESDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department responded to five calls on Tuesday and one early this (Wednesday) morning.

Just past noon, the department was dispatched to a two-vehicle crash at Airline Drive and Progress Drive.  Firefighters arrived to find both vehicles had minor damage and were blocking the intersection.  The occupants were out of the vehicles and talking with police.  BFD members checked for leaking fluids, but none needed to be cleaned up.  They helped with traffic control and cleared the call once the vehicles were moved to the side of the road.

At 1:30 p.m., units were called out to another crash, this one in the 4200 block of Sausage Lane in Chappell Hill.  Brenham and Chappell Hill firefighters found two vehicles involved in the accident.  Crew members assisted EMS with moving a passenger to the ambulance.  The extent of the patient’s injuries is unknown.

At 5 p.m., personnel responded to a gas odor in the 1900 block of Maize Court.  Firefighters and the City of Brenham Gas Department checked the area for a leak or smell.  Following investigation, the gas department released the fire department from the scene.

At 7:45 p.m., the department received an electric service call in the 2200 block of Glenda Boulevard.  Units found that a fuse had blown on a utility pole and remained on scene until the City of Brenham Electric Department made location.

Shortly before 11:30 p.m., firefighters were called out to a report of carbon monoxide in the 2400 block of Lynne Way.  They found that it was a bad detector and advised the resident to get a new one before returning to service.

At 12:15 a.m. today, units responded to a fire alarm at an apartment in the 400 block of South Sager Street.  They discovered that water was leaking into the smoke detector, causing the alarm to go off.  The department advised the resident to contact maintenance to fix the water leak and repair the alarm system.
