BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL ACCEPTS ROAD RESURFACING BID FOR 12 STREETS
Twelve street sections in Brenham will be made fresh again following approval by the city council on Thursday to perform Onyx Resurfacing.
The council accepted a bid from Clark Construction of Texas, Inc. to work on West Wilkins Street, West Jefferson Street, Alma Street, Crockett Street, Westwind Drive, Windy Drive, Windswept Drive, Stringer Street, Lee Street, Giddings Lane, East Lubbock Street and Atlow Drive.
Public Works Director Dane Rau said this project will encompass approximately 34,940 square yards of resurfacing product on asphalt roadways.
Clark Construction also did Onyx Resurfacing for the city in the summer of 2022, working on six street sections. The company was the lone bidder at that time and for this current project, which will come out to $222,815.
Rau said the resurfacing will involve sealing the roadway off, preventing minor cracking and water intrusion. He said it should help protect the roads for several years.
The city will now begin the paperwork process associated with the contract with Clark Construction and schedule work when the weather permits. Residents will be notified when work on their streets begins, and it should take no longer than two days to complete.
