BRENHAM HOME SUFFERS MAJOR DAMAGE IN TUESDAY MORNING FIRE

  

Several fire departments were called to the scene of a major house fire this (Tuesday) morning in Brenham.

Around 8:30 a.m., the Brenham Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 1100 block of East Main Street, near the intersection with Barbee Street. 

According to Interim Brenham Fire Chief Rhea Cooper, firefighters arrived to find a home well involved in flames.  Cooper reported that the whole house on the inside was involved, and fire was coming out of the front windows.

The Chappell Hill and Salem Volunteer Fire Departments made location to assist at the scene.  The Meyersville Volunteer Fire Department responded to backfill the Brenham fire station.  Units remained on scene for four hours.

According to Cooper, a woman was in the house but was able to get out.  She was evaluated by EMS for a minor burn on her hand and was taken to the hospital, but was later released.  No one else was in the residence at the time of the fire.

The home was deemed a total loss.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
