CUBETTES RALLY IN THE 6TH TO BEAT WYLIE 3-1

The Brenham Cubettes Softball Team wrapped up day one of the Leadoff Classic with their second come-from-behind win of the day as they defeated Abilene Wylie 3-1 tonight (Thursday) at Alumni Field.

The game featured quite the pitchers' duel between Brenham's Della Jasinski and Wylie's Hannah Messer as both hurlers put up zeroes on the scoreboard through the first five innings.

The Lady Pirates managed to break through on a bases loaded walk in the top of the 6th to make it 1-0.

Brenham responded in the bottom of the sixth with three runs. Avery Maurer led it off with a double, and she would come home to score when Sarah Mabie hit a flyball that was dropped by the leftfielder.

Annie Beckendorf and Kinley Antkowiak both walked to load the bases. Nevaeh Holmes came in to pinch run for Mabie, and scored when Baker was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to make it 2-1 Brenham.

Stella Landry then drew a bases loaded walk to score Beckendorf to make it 3-1.

Della Jasinski (2-0) went the distance to get the win. She pitched all seven innings allowing only one run, four hits, three walks, while striking out three.

The Cubettes (3-0) get ready for two more games tomorrow (Friday). They will face Santa Fe at 3pm, followed by Harlan at 5pm. KWHI will carry the second game live beginning with the pregame at 4:35pm.
