LAKE TRAVIS RALLIES IN 6TH TO BEAT CUBETTES 4-3
The Brenham Cubette Softball Team ended up with a split on the first day at the Dripping Springs Tournament.
In today's (Thursday's) games which were played at Lake Travis High School, the Cubettes won the opener 17-2 over Buda Hays, but in the second game, Lake Travis came back to beat Brenham 4-3.
The Cubettes got on the board early with a solo homer by Annie Beckendorf in the top of the 2nd to make it 1-0 Brenham.
Lake Travis tied it 1-1 in the bottom of the 4th with a home run of their own.
The Cubettes retook the lead in the top of the 5th inning. Kaylie Rodriguez was hit by a pitch to lead off the frame. Kinley Antkowiak was brought in as a pinch runner. Three batters later, McKenzie Tiemann hit her first homer of the season, a two-run blast, that put Brenham back in front 3-2.
Lake Travis got to starter Della Jasinski in the bottom of the sixth with a three-run homer to take the lead 4-3.
The Cubettes had one last chance in the top of the 7th, but went three up, and three down.
Brenham is now 7-2 on the season. Tomorrow's (Friday's) games will be at Drippings Springs High School. The Cubettes will take on Converse Judson at 11am, followed by Leander at 1pm.
