SPRING OPEN COLLECTION DAYS START THURSDAY FOR WASHINGTON CO. RESIDENTS

The annual Spring Open Collection Days for Washington County residents begin tomorrow (Thursday) at the BVR Collection/Transfer Station in Brenham.

Households in the county can drop off up to 500 pounds of non-hazardous waste for free at the collection station, located at 2009 Old Chappell Hill Road, from tomorrow to Saturday.

The collection event for City of Brenham residents already took place last week.

As with the city collection event, only non-commercial customers can participate.  They must show proof of residence and an ID.

Any debris or material over the 500 pound limit will be charged at the full rate.

Items that will not be accepted for disposal include oil, gas, paint, hazardous liquids, propane tanks, or loads with dirt, cement and/or bricks.  A $20 removal fee will be applied for appliances with coolant.  Tires will be taken at the normal rate.

The collection station’s hours during the event are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow and Friday, and 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
