HOT NIGHTS, COOL TUNES TO CELEBRATE 20TH ANNIVERSARY

Main Street Brenham has announced this summer’s band lineup for the 20th anniversary of the popular “Hot Nights, Cool Tunes” concert series in downtown Brenham.

It’s been 5 years since one of Texas’ premier cover bands, “Suede”, last took the stage at “Hot Nights, Cool Tunes.  Playing hits from the 70’s through today, Suede will perform on Saturday night, July 6th sponsored by Brenham National Bank, Seidel ‘Schroeder, Dahmann and Associates, and Must Be Heaven.

On July 13th Brenham welcomes a new band to the series, “The Pictures”.  Voted best Austin wedding band in 2023, “The Pictures” bring their high energy show to Downtown sponsored by Briannas Fine Salad Dressing, Deep in the Heart Farms, Brannon Industrial Group, and Valmont.

Saturday, July 20th, the popular “Brown Sugar Band” returns playing a mix of old school rock n’ roll, Motown, R&B, and contemporary hits.  They are sponsored by Citizens State Bank, Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative, Woodson Lumber, and Upchurch Yates Law Firm.

Closing out this summer’s concert series will be “The Spicoli’s’, playing favorite hits from the 80’s.  The Spicoli’s, who have become a crowd favorite, are sponsored by Budweiser – Mike Hopkins Distributing, Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union, Strand Associates, and RCR Rail – Jeffrey Pittman.

Along with the free concerts which begin at 7 o’clock each Saturday night in July, Brenham’s courthouse square will host a variety of food vendor trucks.  The classic cars and trucks of the Stray Katz Car Club will also return each week for cruise ins.  Main Street Manager Leigh Linden said “We are thrilled to celebrate the 20th anniversary of “Hot Nights, Cool Tunes” with an incredible lineup of talented artists”.  Linden stressed that this is a family-friendly event, and promised more announcements to come about additional festivities for this annual event.

  1. I think the City should request each band’s set list, and use that information to help the bands select a wider variety of songs. The problem is that all these cover bands playing hits from the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s all cover the same songs. There have been nore than one summer of HNCT concerts with six or more songs all played by at least three of the four bands. Let’s mix it up a little!

    1. Keith….that is exactly what I suggested to the Main Street Manager. She is going to get a set list from the first band, and send it to the second band so they won’t duplicate songs. The same thing will be done for the next two bands.
