AUTHORITIES LOOKING FOR DRIVER THAT DIDN’T YIELD FOR A SCHOOL BUS

  

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is looking for driver that did not yield for a stopped school bus, and could have put student lives at risk.

The incident was reported to the Sheriff’s Office on Monday.

According to Lieutenant David Beyer, around 4pm, a LaGrange ISD school bus had stopped at a residence off of Highway 71 to drop-off a student.

The bus was on the shoulder, had its stop sign deployed, and flashing lights activated when the car passed the bus on the wrong side and without yielding.

No students were injured.

The Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation into locating the vehicle and the driver.  Video of the incident can be seen on the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Facebook Page.

Lt. Beyer told KWHI that it highly concerns them that his happened.

Sheriff Korenek announced that Deputies will be conducting special traffic details that involve following and observing local school buses, and looking for violators.  

Deputies may be in marked or unmarked vehicles.

Korenek added that any violators found endangering the children in the community will be stopped, cited, and charged to the fullest extent of the law.

  1. People who are caught passing stopped school buses should be heavily fined ($$$$K) and a night or three in jail as a good measure.
