WASHINGTON CO. FAIR AWARDS OVER $122,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS

  

Twenty-nine Washington County high school seniors were presented on Wednesday with $122,913 in scholarships from the Washington County Fair.

The scholarships awarded at the Fair Association’s annual Scholarship Breakfast include the Washington County Fair Scholarship, Bucket Calf Mentor Scholarship, Champion Drive Buddy Scholarship and Queen Candidate Scholarship.

The recipients have chosen a variety of fields of study, such as agriculture, animal science, health, engineering, horticulture, finance and kinesiology.  They will attend eight different colleges and universities, including Texas A&M University, Texas Tech University, Blinn College, Tarleton State University, Texas Christian University, Texas State Technical College, University of Texas and Southern Assembly of God University.

Fair Association President Michael Bentke said, “I can’t begin to tell you how qualified all these young leaders are to receive these scholarship funds.  Their applications were impressive and it’s truly a pleasure for the Washington County Fair to be able to reward their hard work.”
