The Berlin – Mill Creek – Zionsville Volunteer Fire Department recently purchased rehabilitative equipment for first responders thanks to a grant from Volunteer Firemen’s Insurance Services (VFIS).

The grant is an Emergency Responder, Health and Wellness grant for $4,886.

The department chose to enhance the capabilities of the Washington County Community Emergency Team (CERT), which provides rehab for firefighters and other responders who are called to large, extended incidents.

Grant money was used to purchase a rehab kit with a shelter, cots, chairs, a table, lighting and various other items.  The grant also went toward a water mist cooling fan and a portable generator.

The department thanks VFIS for the opportunity to receive the grant and says it looks forward to working with the Washington County CERT to provide assistance to local first responders.
