Grimes County Sheriff’s Deputies foiled an alleged burglary in progress during the early morning hours on Thursday.

Deputies were dispatched shortly after 1:30am to the 8200 block of Highway 90 North in the community of Roans Prairie.

A male suspect, Jacob Andrew Gaiser of Willis, was detained as he was getting into his truck to leave.

After an investigation was conducted, it was determined that several storage units were broken into by having their locks sawed off, and several items of property were taken.

According to Sheriff Don Sowell, several of the items were returned, but there is still property that has not yet been identified.

Deputies also discovered that the trailer that was attached to Gaiser’s pickup was reported stolen from Tractor Supply in Huntsville.  It even still had the price tag on it.

In addition to that, Gaiser was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

He was taken to the Grimes County Jail, where he was charged with two State Jail Felony counts of Burglary of a Building, and one second degree felony count of Possession of a Controlled Substance Greater Than 4 Grams, but Less Than 200 Grams.

Sheriff Sowell said that Gaiser may be linked to other storage unit burglaries. Anyone with further information is asked to contact the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office at 936-873-2151, or Grimes County Crimes Stoppers at www.P3tips.com
