SIX CALLS THURSDAY, ONE EARLY FRIDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.
The Brenham Fire Department was called out six times on Thursday and once early this (Friday) morning.
Shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday, the department was dispatched to a crash in the 2100 block of Highway 290 West. Units made location to find a two-vehicle accident. After checking both vehicles in finding that no fluids were leaking, they were released from the scene by the Brenham Police Department.
At 5:15 p.m., firefighters responded to a fire alarm at Stanpac USA, 801 Mangrum Street. They arrived to find the alarm was malfunctioning, so the alarm company was called to reset the alarm.
Just past 5:45 p.m., the Brenham Fire Department and Meyersville Volunteer Fire Department were sent out to a car fire in the 4100 block of Highway 105. They discovered a vehicle with heavy fire in the engine compartment. Brenham units, with assistance from Meyersville firefighters, extinguished the vehicle fire. Once it was out, the Brenham department returned to service.
BFD members were then called out twice around 8 p.m. to the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South, for a fire alarm. Both times, they were cancelled due to proper code being given by the alarm company.
At 11:15 p.m., the department was dispatched to a crash in the 2600 block of Highway 36 South. Units found a one-vehicle accident with no fluids leaking. They were soon back in service after being released from the scene by Brenham police.
At 12:45 a.m. today, another report of a crash came in, this one in the 1700 block of Highway 105. Firefighters discovered a two-vehicle accident. After checking for fluids and finding none, they provided blocking for scene safety until the vehicles were removed from the roadway. Once the vehicles were gone, units were released by Brenham police and returned to the station.
