BRENHAM ANIMAL SERVICES PARTICIPATING IN MEGA ADOPTION EVENT IN HOUSTON

  

Brenham Animal Services hopes to give dozens of dogs and cats a new home this weekend at an adoption event in Houston.

Petco Love, a nonprofit animal welfare organization, is hosting the MEGA Adoption Event on Saturday and Sunday at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston.   

Animal Services Manager Megan Gray says this is the first time Brenham Animal Services has taken part in the annual adoption event, which hosts numerous shelters and animal rescues from around the state.

As of Thursday, Brenham Animal Services will have 40 dogs and 20 cats available for adoption throughout the weekend.  Gray hopes by participating, the shelter will increase awareness in the larger community and reach new potential adopters.

Hours at the adoption event are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.  Admission is free, though there is the option to purchase a Fast Pass online to enter the event an hour early on Saturday.  Adoptions are $35 from all organizations.  All pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

The Brenham Pet Adoption Center will be closed on Saturday to allow for staff to attend the adoption event.  It will return to normal hours on Monday.
