CUBS RECLAIM SECOND PLACE WITH A 4-0 WIN OVER A&M CONSOLIDATED
In front of a packed house on Little League Night, the Brenham Cubs Baseball Team sent their fans home happy with a 4-0 victory over the A&M Consolidated Tigers.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the third inning. Caleb Maurer led it off with a walk, moved to second on a groundout, and stole third base. He then came home on a two-run homer by Drake Bentke, his second long ball of the year, and Brenham grabbed an early 2-0 lead.
The Cubs would get two more runs in the fifth inning. With two outs, Brody Tucker got hit by a pitch. Brody Hemann came on to courtesy run for him. Drake Bentke followed by reaching on a single. An error by the Tigers allowed allowed Landry Mendoza to reach base, and Hemann to score. Luke Hardy came up next, and hit an RBI single that brought home Bentke to make it 4-0.
Dawson Keim (6-1) picked up the win on the hill after another masterful outing. He went all seven innings, allowing just three hits, walking two, and striking out four.
The Cubs are now 14-9-1 on the season, and 5-3 in district. Next up, they will host Montgomery on Tuesday night at 7pm at Fireman's Park.
