Shortly before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, members of the Brenham Fire Department and Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department responded to FM 1371 and Winding Bridge Lane in Chappell Hill for a transportation incident.  They found a single vehicle with all four tires against the tree line.  Firefighters used equipment to extricate the patient from the vehicle.  The Chappell Hill department stayed on scene, while Brenham units cleared the call.  Photos shared by the Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department show a medical helicopter landed on scene, but the extent of any injuries, as well as details on how the accident occurred, are unknown.

Around 1:30 a.m. today (Wednesday), members of the Brenham Fire Department and Rocky Creek Volunteer Fire Department were called to the 11000 block of Rocky Creek Park Road for a report of a deceased male that needed to be extricated from a travel trailer.  Units arrived to find a small travel trailer and one deceased male inside, and they helped funeral home employees remove the male from the trailer before returning to service.  Washington County Sheriff Trey Holleway says the sheriff’s office currently does not suspect anything other than natural causes that resulted in the death of the individual.

In other calls for the Brenham Fire Department:

Just past 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, firefighters were dispatched to Highway 36 South and Pleasant Hill School Road for a report of a vehicle fire.  They arrived on location to find a small car parked on the shoulder with the hood open, but no smoke or flames were found coming from the engine compartment, so they returned to the station.

Approaching 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, units were called out to the 1200 block of East Tom Green Street for a transportation incident.  When they arrived, they discovered a vehicle had struck an electric pole.  They found wires on the ground and called for the City of Brenham Electric Department.  No one was injured, and after the roadway was cleared, the department returned to service.

A few minutes after 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, BFD members received a report of a gas leak at a home in the 2700 block of Chase Street.  Firefighters and the City of Brenham Gas Department saw nothing showing from the exterior of the home, and firefighters found no readings on their gas detector.  The gas department remained on location, while the fire department cleared the scene.

Just after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, units went out as mutual aid to another transportation incident, this one in the 4400 block of FM 1155 South.  However, Brenham firefighters were cancelled by Chappell Hill units on location, as the patient was already out of the vehicle.

At 1:30 a.m. today, the department was dispatched to a home in the 1500 block of Clay Street for a fire alarm.  Nothing was showing from the outside of the home, and there were no signs of smoke or fire inside.  Firefighters spoke with the homeowner, who advised everything was safe.
