DISTRICT 17-5A SOCCER ALL-DISTRICT SELECTIONS RELEASED, CUBETTES EARN HONORS

District 17-5A All-District awards for the girls’ soccer season have been announced; these players were recognized as outstanding performers on the Brenham Cubettes soccer team this season:

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

- America Rodriquez     - Addison Ross     - Heidi Faske     - Alayna Allen     - Leslie Quevedo Mata

Starting at the back, junior goalkeeper Teagan Vaughn earned 1st Team All-District honors after a season that included 5 shutouts. Her standout performances also earned her the title of 5A District 17 Goalkeeper of the Year.

Contributing to those clean sheets was of course the defense. The Cubettes’ defense was well represented on the all-district list. Junior Alyce Sheets was named to the 1st Team, while seniors Kianna McDonald and Audrey Shelton earned 2nd Team honors. Audrey Shelton also shined off the field, earning the All-State Academic Award, recognizing her as one of the top student-athletes in the state of Texas.

In the midfield, junior Hiromi Gonzales played in central midfield, distributing the ball and creating scoring chances. Her impact earned her a 1st Team All-District nod and recognition as one of the top midfielders in 5A District 17.

In the attack junior forward Denali Washington, who led the Cubettes with 14 goals on the season was also recognized for her performances this year. Her ability to convert chances into goals secured her a spot on the 1st Team All-District as one of the top forwards in the district. She was also voted as the Offensive Player of the Year by fellow Cubettes.

These players along with honorable mentions America Rodriquez, Addison Ross, Heidi Faske, Alayna Allen and Leslie Quevedo Mata were outstanding players during the Brenham Cubettes soccer season and were recognized at the 5A District 17 District Awards.
